In the fall of 2014 we invited four Instagrammers on an exclusive tour of our slate quarry in upstate New York, followed by a farm to table dinner. We asked bartender Derek Hawkins of Brooklyn's Sweet Science to develop a cocktail specifically for the event featuring WhistlePig 10 Year Straight Rye Whiskey. — Ed.
— 3/4 oz. fresh lemon juice
— 3/4 oz. Morris Kitchen Ginger Syrup
— 2 oz. WhistlePig 10 Year Old Straight Rye Whiskey
— a few dashes of Angostura bitters
— mint leaves for garnish
Add bitters, lemon juice, ginger syrup, and whiskey to a cocktail shaker. Fill with ice and shake until well chilled, about 10 seconds. Strain into rocks glass with a single slow-melting ice cube, or serve "up" in a coupe. Garnish with mint leaves, kick your feet up, and sip at your leisure.
