About Brooklyn Slate Company

It all started in 2009. A 3rd generation family quarry, unused slate remnants and a couple of kids living it up in Brooklyn. Fast forward to today and Brooklyn Slate Co. boards can be found across the country and around the globe. Proud to be one of the largest purveyors of American made slate products, Brooklyn Slate continues its tradition of crafting fine pieces of table top ware and accessories to fit all of your entertaining needs. We are passionate about gathering friends, family, and loved ones around the table to share a meal in style.

Brooklyn Slate is sourced from the exquisite New York/Vermont Slate Valley. We are proud partners with Progress Industries, a division of The Arc, Oneida-Lewis, a non-profit organization providing support for people with developmental disabilities, where our slate is washed, sealed, wrapped, and packed.

How We Do It

Made in America

Our slate is sourced from the Vermont and New York Slate Valley, a unique geological formation that runs between Vermont and New York states. This area is world famous for producing slate roofs and other residential, industrial, and commercial products for more than a century.

A Cut Above

Slate is one of the most durable, naturally occurring stones readily available; slate shingles, which are found on home and building roofs across the country, typically withstand the elements for two hundred years or more.

Colorful Choices

In addition to our stratified black slate, we are one of the only remaining operations in the United States that quarries naturally occuring red slate.

Chef's Favorite

Our boards are preferred in restaurants around the world for their craftsmanship and durability. Each board we cut is at least 3/8” thick, making it stronger than most plates and sturdy enough to withstand commercial dishwashers.

If you like to entertain, host holiday parties or are looking for a great gift, these slate boards from Brooklyn Slate are really worth checking out.
